In 1811, a Canadian farmer stumbled upon a new seedling on his Apple field, which he cultivated, and because of the good taste of the resulting apple, the Apple soon became very popular. The farmer's name was John Macintosh, which is why the new Macintosh's name was used for this new apple. In the area of audio equipment, do not use the name McIntosh Laboratory, add the letter a, and choose the Macintosh name for Apple computers. Steve Jobs led the Macintosh project in January 1981. For a short time, Jobs wanted to change the name of these computers to Bicycle because one of his words was: "A computer is like a bicycle to the mind."

But the Macintosh developers did not welcome the new name at all, and it eventually survived. To prevent legal conflicts, Steve Jobs wrote a letter to the director of the McIntosh Laboratory in 1982 asking for permission to use the name. After negotiations, Apple received a license to use the name in 1983, and then in 1986 the company's brand was fully acquired.

From Macintosh to Mac

After the brand was officially introduced in 1984, some employees, journalists and customers referred to the brand as the Mac for convenience. In this context, it should be noted that Apple, along with the introduction of the first Macintosh computer, also unveiled programs such as MacPaint and MacWrite, and therefore Mac became a key term for Apple computers.

Since the Mac OS was originally developed only for the Macintosh computer, Apple used the system name 1 for it, but later renamed it Macintosh. System Software changed. It was renamed Mac OS in 1997.

In 1998, with the introduction of iMac, Apple officially used the Mac name for its computers for the first time. Eventually the name spread to other Apple computers such as the Power Mac G4 and MacBook Pro. These days, Apple uses the Mac name for computers and their operating systems, and no trace of the Macintosh brand can be seen in any of the company's ads.
