Although Samsung has revolutionized the production of foldable phone screens with UTG glass, apparently these glasses are not suitable for use in foldable tablets and laptops.

Samsung folding phones have made significant progress in terms of resistance compared to the first generations. If you remember, when the Galaxy Fold was launched as Samsung's first foldable phone, the quality of the foldable screen was considered its biggest weakness.

Samsung, however, preferred technology UTG (abbreviation of Ultra Thin Glass) is used for the mystery of ultra-thin glass. Although this glass has performed very well in folding phones, it is apparently not suitable for use in larger screens such as tablets and laptops and causes problems.

Samsung does not want its portfolio of folding products to be limited to only folding phones. to be If you remember, a few months ago, this Korean company also unveiled a series of large folding screens that are more suitable for use in tablets and laptops than a smartphone. But since it can't use UTG in these products, apparently it has to go to another technology. Laptop or tablet is used becomes a serious problem. As it seems, the larger the size of the UTG glass, the lower its resistance. On the other hand, PI (the technology used in the first generation Galaxy Fold) is not an attractive technology that Samsung wants to use to achieve a good solution.

According to the Korean website The Elec, apparently Samsung has studied the strengths and weaknesses of using both types of folding displays, namely UTG and PI, in order to be able to combine them for tablets and folding laptops, but did not see this solution as a suitable option.

As it seems, Samsung has decided to use the same PI instead of combining these two technologies. Use as a more appropriate option. Therefore, it is unlikely that the first generation of Samsung folding tablets or laptops will use UTG glass as their folding display. According to the SamMobile website, Samsung should think about this situation in the future and use technology. Which is neither UTG nor PI. If the UTG glass is fragile for use in products with a large screen, the PI has a low resistance.

With all these interpretations, no official news has been published by Samsung that the company is producing tablets or laptops. The top is foldable. Currently, Samsung's only folding products are Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, which are becoming more popular every year. We have to wait to see what more and more reliable news regarding Samsung's plans to produce new folding products will be published in the near future.
