Step 9: Select and adjust the layer mask

One of the best layer properties Adjustment in Photoshop is that they are equipped with a Layer Mask. Maybe you did not realize it yourself. But from the beginning of this tutorial and from the moment of adding the Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer, we are also using the Layer Mask. In fact, Photoshop automatically created a mask layer using the sections we selected with the Lasso Tool (Step 3). So, now we can see the thumbnail image of the mask layer from the Layers panel.

as seen . Most parts of this thumbnail are covered in black and only 2 small dots are white. Black areas are areas where the Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer is not affected. In other words, the black sections still show the main color of your image. The two white dots you see are the same sections we selected in step three. Hue/Saturation settings only apply to these sections.

As you can see in the image below. A thin white box appears around the thumbnail. This means that we have selected the mask layer. If you do not see this box, click on the thumbnail to select the mask layer. Now let's move on to the next step.

Step 10: Select the Brush tool h2>

If you feel that your initial choice using the Lasso Tool was not accurate, we need to correct it at this point. You may not have selected parts of the iris. Maybe you have chosen more parts by mistake and now you have changed the white color of the eye. We recommend zooming in completely on one eye to see all the details carefully. As you can see in the picture, we have overdone the selection a bit and an extra blue border has been created in the eye.

Tip: As in the photo You can see below. Photoshop allows you to choose 2 colors at the same time. One is called Foreground and the other is called Background. Pressing the D button resets the color settings and returns to the default black/white combination. The foreground color is at the top left, and the Background color is at the bottom right. Note that Photoshop uses Foreground color for the brush/pen tool.

BingMag.com Step-by-step tutorial for changing eye color with Photoshop

You can also switch the two colors together with the x button.

Step 12: Paint the area around the iris black

Zoom in completely on each of the eyes and surround them with Draw carefully with a black pen. For best and more accurate results, we recommend that you do not choose a font size that is too large. You can select the font size using the [and] buttons. Right-clicking on the screen will also display a page for selecting font settings.

BingMag.com Step-by-step tutorial for changing eye color with Photoshop

Paint around the iris black

Since we are painting on the mask layer, do not expect the parts you are painting to turn black! As we said, the black sections show the main settings and we just want to adjust and refine our mask layer.

In addition, we naturally do not want to color people's eyes! Therefore, using the same pen, click on the pupil (central black part of the eye) to return to its original and natural color.

Do the same for both eyes.

Click on the black center of the pupil with the same font

Troubleshooting

During the previous step, if you made a mistake and accidentally deleted part of the mask, you can change the white and black colors by pressing the X button. Now paint on the same area with a white pen to activate the mask again. When you have corrected the mistake, press the x button again to make the foreground black.
