In the image on the right, Johnson has digitally enhanced the color saturation and contrast to reveal the complex structure of the planet's atmosphere. It reveals the three-dimensional nature of powerful storms swirling through the planet's clouds. Bright clouds called "pop-ups" can also be seen in the upper atmosphere. This image was taken from an area at about 50 degrees north latitude of the planet.
