It seems that Microsoft plans to launch Surface 9 Pro in two models with two different processors, one of which is an Intel Alder series chip. Lake P and the other one will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx generation 3 chip.

Previously, news has been published that Microsoft will probably use two processors for the Surface Pro 9 tablet this year. One of these models will be part of Microsoft's Voltra project; A project that aims to develop products with ARM-based chips. As part of this project, Surface Pro 9 will be equipped with the same chip in one of its models so that it can compete with Apple representatives with M series chips.

The chip that is said to be based on ARM in Surface Pro It will not play a role, it will be the 3rd generation Snapdragon 8cx. A processor that has a very high processing ability, but is much weaker compared to Apple's M series chips. Of course, this chip will be renamed to Microsoft SQ3 when it is placed in Surface Pro 9, but this will not change its processing power. It uses four Cortex-A78 cores, whose frequency is set to 2.99 and 2.4 GHz, respectively. Although the processing power of these cores is very high, they still belong to the previous generation, because now Cortex-X2 and Cortex-A710 have been unveiled and we see their use in processors such as Snapdragon 8 generation 1 and its Plus model. However, overall, the SQ3 will perform significantly better than the SQ2, which was an improved version of the SQ1. Since the new generation of this chip will most likely be unveiled at Qualcomm's November event, Microsoft will not have the opportunity to use its new generation in its expected products.

In addition to These, benefiting from the 3rd generation Snapdragon 8cx chip means that the Surface Pro 9 will also support 5G technology, so that it will be the first device from the Surface brand with this capability, because even all Surface Pro X models support 4G technology. Of course, Snapdragon 8cx generation 3 does not have a built-in 5G modem, but it supports Snapdragon X55, X62 and X65 modems. This chip also supports good features such as variable refresh rate and displays with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. This means that we expect the Surface Pro 9 5G to use a 120 Hz display, which Microsoft has named "PixelSense Flow touch display".

But that's not the whole story. Microsoft apparently wants to equip another model of Surface Pro 9 with Intel's Alder Lake P series chip. Processors with a processing power of 28 watts, which are used in products such as Dell's XPS 13 Plus. Of course, Dell used a model with a processing power of 15 watts, but apparently the model chosen by Microsoft will have a higher power.

It is said that Microsoft will hold a hardware event in the beginning of autumn, from the new products of the Surface brand, which includes the Surface Pro. 9, Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Studio 3 will be unveiled. There is also a possibility that Surface gaming laptop will be unveiled, the details of which have been published recently, but we cannot speak with certainty in this regard at the moment.
