BingMag.com Inadvertent mistake or deception? Samsung announced the wrong dimensions of the Galaxy Watch 5!

As it seems, Samsung made a mistake regarding the dimensions of the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro at its event and displayed the wrong numbers.

Before Samsung's new products were unveiled, a lot of news and information about them were released, thanks to which we were able to fully understand the details about them. This happens all the time in relation to the products of different companies and it is nothing new. Therefore, when a product is unveiled, it is very unlikely that the manufacturing company will make a mistake regarding one of its specifications because everyone will immediately notice.

But this happened with the Galaxy Watch 5 series and by the way everyone They also understood. Samsung made a strange mistake that we don't know if it was accidental or just to deceive people. Regarding the thickness of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro, the company gave numbers that are not even close to reality. That is, even if we don't want to be strict and think that this was an unintentional mistake, it is very difficult.

According to Samsung and in fact what is officially registered on the company's website, Galaxy Watch 5 is a smart watch 9 It is 8 mm and the Pro model is 10.5 mm. But the real numbers that someone recently published on YouTube are far from these two numbers. This curious user found out that the thickness of the Galaxy Watch 5 is actually 13.11 mm and the thickness of the Pro model is 15.07 mm. This means that Samsung has published approximately 50% wrong statistics regarding the Pro model and about 30% regarding the standard model, which is almost impossible. (You can also watch the unboxing video of these two products to see their exact size).

You may be wondering how this is possible? Why should Samsung make such a mistake? Honestly, the story is weirder than you might imagine. Many companies producing smart watches, of which Apple is a part, do not take into account the part that the sensors on the back of the watch make up when measuring the dimensions of the watch, and they think that announcing the obtained number is completely correct and logical. This is despite the fact that this type of measurement not only has no logical justification, but also causes users to be deceived.

Samsung is a very big accuser. The Korean company thought that if it wants to measure the dimensions of a watch, it should not consider the back panel at all. What about its sensors. As a result, the dimensions of the back panel were completely removed from the measurement to reach 10.5 mm by measuring only the walls of the watch, while the watch itself is really 15.07 mm, taking everything into account.

You should also keep in mind that the weight declared on the official website is the net weight of the watch without considering its strap. This means that these watches, in the best possible condition, are still noticeably heavier than what you saw in their spec sheet before you bought them. Of course, this last case is a little more understandable because the straps can usually be changed according to the user's taste, and companies sometimes include the net weight of the watch, but reducing the thickness of a product by 50% is a clear example of deceiving people.

What is your opinion about this issue? Do you think that Samsung tried to deceive users or do you consider this to be completely justified and reasonable?
