This cosmic interaction, called HH 505, shows a phenomenon known as a Herbig-Haro object, and their formation requires a set of special conditions.

First, the baby star must exist. These baby stars, or cosmic knots, form when a dense region in a molecular cloud, such as the nursery star raptor, collapses (collapses) and rotates due to its high mass. With this rotation, it wraps in material from the surrounding clouds that allows the baby star to grow.

As this material accumulates on the baby star, powerful plasma jets can be launched from the star's poles. Some material orbiting the star is thought to be deflected poleward along the star's external magnetic field lines. These magnetic field lines act as a particle accelerator, and when the material reaches the poles, they are ejected at incredible speeds.

A Herbig- Halos form when these super-fast jets collide violently with the surrounding gas, causing it to heat up with a shock wave, causing it to glow brightly. This event creates a spectacle that looks like two bright rods of light shooting out from the baby star.

These structures change rapidly, so astronomers can study them to understand how the small stars are absorbing material from surrounding clouds. They remove themselves. This phenomenon cuts off the gas and dust that the growing stars feed on and somehow determines the size of the mature star.
