Some time ago, the results of benchmarks performed on Snapdragon 8 Generation 1 were published, and now, thanks to a video published by MediaTek, we can see the results. Let's look at the benchmarks made on Dimensity 9000. Simply put, the Dimensity 9000 outperforms the 1st generation Snapdragon 8 in terms of processor, but fails in the GPU battle. Of course, we have to note that in both areas their distance is very small.
At the beginning of the video, the results of the AnTuTu benchmark show that the Dimensity 9000 managed to score 1017488. Of course, in recent weeks, various reports have been published about breaking the 1 million point limit by this chip, and it should be noted that Snapdragon 8 Generation 1 has also managed to exceed the 1 million point limit in this benchmark. A few weeks ago, the results of the GT2 Pro movie benchmark appeared on AnTuTu, which uses the Snapdragon 8 1st generation. But since this test may not have been performed on the final model of the phone in question, we can not compare the results of the AnTuTu benchmark of these two chips directly.
In the continuation of this video, we see the results of the Geekbench benchmark, in which the Dimensity 9000 scored 1273 and 4324 points in the single-core and multi-core sections, respectively. On the other hand, the leaked benchmark results of the Galaxy S22 Ultra equipped with Snapdragon 8 generation 1 in these two tests show the numbers 1219 and 3154. Although in some benchmarks Snapdragon 8 Generation 1 scored higher in multi-core testing, none of them exceeded 4,000.
This difference in processor performance is due to the processing speed of the two chips. As a reminder, the Dimensity 9000 uses a 3.55 GHz Cortex-X2 core, a 2.85 GHz three-core A710 and a 1.8 GHz four-core A510. On the other hand, the core of Snapdragon 8 generation 1, namely Cortex-X2, offers a speed of 3.0 GHz. It also has three 2.5-GHz A710 cores and four low-power A510 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. So as you can see, the most important difference in speed between these cores is the part that contains the A710 cores. 8th generation 1 in this test was able to perform better by achieving a record of 267 frames per second. In version 3.1 of this test, MediaTek and Snapdragon chipsets also recorded a record of 162 and 176 frames per second, respectively.
In the Aztec test with a resolution of 1440p, the MediaTek chip with Vulkan algorithms was able to achieve a record of 42 frames per second, and with OpenGL algorithms, a record of 42 frames per second. The name of this chip is registered. The Snapdragon chipset performed relatively well overall in both tests at 49 and 43 frames per second.
Also in the PCMark and ETHZ AI benchmarks, the MediaTek chipset has 17573 and 1024 points, respectively. Given that the Qualcomm chip has not yet been tested with these benchmarks, we can not compare these results directly. However, in terms of artificial intelligence, the results of the study of these two chips were published yesterday, according to which, MediaTek chipset has more to say in this regard than Qualcomm chip.
As we said at the beginning, the Dimensity 9000 processor has more power than the 1st generation Snapdragon 8, but in terms of processor Graphically, the Qualcomm chipset performed better than usual. It should be noted that Qualcomm uses a proprietary architecture for the graphics processor of its chips, but MediaTek uses the same design provided by Arm.
