Apple has admitted that the M2 chip is weaker than Intel's fastest processor

BingMag.com Apple has admitted that the M2 chip is weaker than Intel's fastest processor

After the unveiling of the M2 chip, Apple admitted that this processor is not as fast and powerful as the new Intel Core i7 series processor.

Apple unveiled the powerful M-Series chips last year, it claims that these chips are even more powerful than Intel's good, fast processors. So at last night's developer conference, when Apple unveiled the M2, we had high expectations. But in the end, it turned out that this chip could not beat Intel, the fastest processor.

The new M2 chip uses eight cores and is the beating heart of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. According to information released by Apple, this chip is 50% more bandwidth than M1 and 18% faster. Despite TSMC's state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, such as 5nm lithography and 20 billion transistors, it is still not faster than Intel's fastest processor.

Powerful chips when the M1 was unveiled It had surpassed Intel, but compared to the twelfth generation of Intel chips, even the M2 is not very powerful. Intel was able to make significant progress with the 12th generation compared to before, and despite its older manufacturing technology compared to AMD manufacturing technology, it can still easily compete with this company. Of course, in Apple tests, the M2 was able to pass the ten-core i7-1255U chip used in the Galaxy Book 360 360, the chart of which you can see below.

A table showing that the M2 can easily beat the 1255U Intel i7 series chip in both power consumption and processing speed.

But in the second slide, we see that the M2 could not beat the twelve-core Core i7-1260P processor used in the MSI Prestige 14 Evo laptop. We should praise Apple for being so straightforward because it comes down to the company and shows a test that shows that its product is not superior to a product from a competing company. However, this was intended to be straightforward. It's not Intel, but it's incredibly less expensive.

Although in the real world the Intel 1260P chip is more powerful than the M2, the key point that the American company wanted to make with this chart was something else. Apple apparently did not want to admit a weakness with this chart, although it did, but wanted to show that the M2 could perform exceptionally well with a quarter of the power required by an Intel representative. For example, 1260P with 60 watts of power consumption can reach 140 points in performance. But with just 15 watts consumed, the M2 can score 120, which is great. This energy efficiency makes the laptop less energy efficient, less hot, longer battery life, does not require an advanced cooling system, and therefore its design is slim and light, and many other good things that laptops equipped with the Core-i7 1260P They are useless.

A table showing the M2 in terms of graphics power and power consumption from 1255U Intel is faster and more efficient

in terms of graphics, but the M2 is apparently a very powerful chip. The charts show that this processor performs 2.3 times better than the Intel Iris Xe GPU in the i7-1255U, which is the beating heart of the Galaxy Book Pro 360, while consuming much less power.

We are very curious to know how the M2 will perform compared to AMD's next-generation processors with advanced manufacturing technology. In contrast to Intel processors, even the failure that Intel suffered is a win given its CPU efficiency, so it came as no surprise why Apple made the chart visible to users.
