NASA's flying robot successfully completed its 33rd flight in the thin atmosphere of Mars, but in this short trip, an uninvited guest with genius

Helicopter "Ingenuity" (Ingenuity) has passed a difficult winter and has returned to flying again. This flying robot, which landed on Mars in February 2021 with the Perseverance rover, has just completed its 33rd flight.

After a break in Traversing the sky of Mars, from June to August (July and August and early September), genius passed the difficult task and managed to complete flight 31 on September 6 (September 15), flight 32 on September 17 (September 26) and completed The 33rd flight took place on September 24th (2 Mehr).

In the 33rd flight, this helicopter traveled more than 111 meters in less than a minute and moved towards the delta of the ancient Jezru River to return to Perseverance Mars rover joins.

However, in part of this flight, an unexpected passenger was accompanied by genius. An unknown piece of debris was stuck around the helicopter's legs, but it doesn't appear to be foreign object debris (FOD) from Genius itself, so it's unclear at this time what it's made of and what its source could be. p>

  • The uninvited guest of the persistent Mars rover has taken a ride of more than 8 km!

In the image captured by the navigation camera (Navcam), near the end of two of the helicopter's four legs that are used to land on the surface of Mars. Attached to the right leg is a small piece of foreign matter that looks almost like a piece of plastic, but NASA is not yet sure of its origin. Flight 32 has not been seen, so it appears to have been recently grounded. However, fortunately, during the flight, this extra object separated from the base of the helicopter and fell on the surface. The full movie of this moment is captured in the video taken by Genius.

NASA wrote in this context: "All telemetry data from the flight, exploration and transfer are in perfect condition and there are no signs of damage to this They do not show the vehicle. However, the helicopter and rover teams are still working to identify the source of the debris."
