A few hours ago, AMD unveiled the Mendocino Ryzen 7020 and Athlon 7020 series processors for low-cost and low-cost laptops. These processors are supposed to compete with processors like Intel's Core i3.

Three new chips of this family are going to the market with the names of Ryzen 5 7520U, Ryzen 3 7320U and Athlon Gold 7220U. The power consumption of all three is between 8 and 15 watts and they use Radeon 610M graphics. The two Ryzen models use 6MB cache, 4 cores and 8 cores. On the other hand, the Athlon model comes with 5 MB cache, 2 cores and 4 cores. These processors are based on Zen 2 architecture and 6nm lithography.

To remind you, we must say that Zen 2 is not a new architecture and was introduced in 2019. The latest architecture of this company is called Zen 4. Therefore, naturally, the processors in question are not supposed to provide high hardware power and are supposed to be installed in cheap laptops. Apparently, Acer plans to use these chips for the Aspire 3 series laptops, the current models of which are sold for under $400.

AMD claims that these chips can provide 12 hours of battery life for the laptops in question. enable Also, this company has claimed the failure of Core i3 in terms of productivity and multitasking. Radeon 610M graphics will probably provide better performance for playing games, but in general, such laptops are not suitable for gaming. The most important change is that now the third number placed in the name of the processors shows the generation of the Zen architecture used.
