Private Division recently announced that it is working with Weta Workshop on a game set in the world of The Lord of the Rings.

Weta Workshop is a company in New Zealand that focuses on making special effects for movies and series. The company is best known for its work on The Hobbit trilogy, Lord of the Rings, Bloodrunner 2049, Medmax, Dune, and more. Michael Worosz, president of Private Division, which is actually part of Take-Two, said about the collaboration with Weta Workshop:

We are excited to partner with Weta Workshop to release a We are happy to play in such a fantastic and famous world. The Lord of the Rings IP is home to many amazing stories, and no team is better equipped than Weta Workshop to create a distinctive, new Middle-earth experience.

Amie Wolken, Head of Interactive at Weta Workshop added:

It is an honor to bring a new game to the land of Let's develop a medium, especially one that's going to be very different from what fans have experienced. As fans of this world, we are very excited for gamers to discover Middle-earth in a way that has never been seen before and to introduce new fans to the magic of The Lord of the Rings.

This new game is still in development. It is early in development and information such as the title or target platforms is not known, however it is expected to launch in Take-Two's 2024 fiscal year. Finally, it should be mentioned that as the last game introduced inspired by Tolkien's works, we can mention the action and adventure game The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is being developed by Daedalic Entertainment and apparently this year for the 8th generation consoles and The ninth edition will be released for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and personal computers.
