The life cycle of the Silent Hill series has seen many dark and light points. The early episodes, which old fans refer to as the main Silent hills and the only respected games in the series, have always been praised and noticed. On the other hand, the subsequent works and games that were released without the presence of "Silent Team" and key members of the original production team, could never return the collection to that golden and glorious era. However, among all the games that fall into this category, one effect has tried harder than the others to follow in the footsteps of the main games and, as far as it can, be considered a respectable sequel. The game mentioned in this post is nothing but "Silent Hill: Downpour"; A work that some players, especially veterans, believe is still rubbish and an insult to the original works and, in the opinion of another group, a respectable product.

Which category does Dawnpour really fall into? There is a lot of discussion and I prefer you to do the final evaluation yourself. Given that years have passed since the release of an impressive Silent Hill and the playable demo called "PT" has never experienced the light of day, we decided to take a look at Downpour.

In the first part of the game, we see that the main character of this part, "Murphy With the help of a prison guard, he completely murders a prisoner in the bathroom. No matter how much the person in question is to blame for this, his or her unanswered cries well acquaint the player with the brutal atmosphere of the game. He is completely defenseless and does not even try to defend himself. To increase the violence here, the player destroys the player's primary weapon in the middle of the task so that he is forced to use another tool; A knife. The level of violence in this short section is definitely questionable for the audience because we have no specific knowledge of the characters. So until the end of the scene, do you think about what exactly the victim did? This confusion eventually ends with Murphy waking up.

The day of the transfer has arrived and Murphy must be ready for the transfer process. The directing of the scenes in the prison location is well done and although it is not the best, it completely conveys the desired feeling to the audience. The game's music, which is clearly inspired by the main games, has a great impact on this issue. The soft music that is played in the moments of boarding the prison transfer bus is like the calm before the storm that we were waiting for. In fact, any player who has ever been to Silent Hill knows full well that good things will not happen. In a perfectly predictable event, the bus crashes due to the driver's negligence and the influence of one of the prisoners, and Murphy is released; A kind of freedom that, contrary to his expectations, is not going to end in his release. The foggy forest is exactly the location we would like to see in Silent Hill. Searching in this environment you can find a flashlight as well as a "walkie-talkie". Murphy is thinking of escaping when he is suddenly surprised and stopped by police officer Annie Marie Cunningham; The same policeman we were transported to on the bus before boarding. Here Murphy and Annie are on two separate levels, and the policewoman must cross a very dangerous precipice to reach the prisoner in question. Ani slips and the player is faced with two choices; Indifference or trying to save the police. Unfortunately, choosing the rescue option also falls immediately, but that does not mean saying goodbye to this character.

So far, we know that the main character of the game, Murphy Pendleton, after a robbery in "Royal Prison" "State" was located. Seeking revenge for his son's death, he had the opportunity to approach a target prisoner named Patrick Napier through one of his forces, George Seville. After reminding them that the two were already neighbors, Murphy started hitting, and we went on to say the rest. Shortly after the incident at the jail and a riot broke out, it was decided that Murphy and a number of other inmates would be transferred to the advanced V-Side security center. From the beginning, we realize that the female police officer has a special focus on Murphy. The route of the transfer bus passed through the eastern part of Silent Hill and everything changed in an accident.

The player is faced with two choices; Indifference or trying to save the police. Choosing a rescue option also makes you fall instantly, but that doesn't mean saying goodbye to this character.

A little searching and wandering in the suburbs of Silent Hill leads to a new person named "Howard Blackwood". The postman is strangely and unexpectedly calm, but we can tell by the way he behaves that he is kind.

Murphy : I'm not looking for trouble. Just show me the way out of the city to get out of here. Howard : Who talked about trouble? I'm just trying to help you as much as possible my son. Were you going to prison? "Unfortunately, all the dirt roads are strangely unusable." There is no inventory. Finally, he suggests Murphy go to the cable car to leave the city. When Murphy wants to ask the postman for the name of the city, we see him disappear. Naturally, Murphy does not yet have the exact name of the place where he is, but we all know very well what a mess he is in! After this strange conversation, Murphy heads to the abandoned Doyles Pit Stop restaurant. This is where he mistakenly causes a gas leak and a fire starts. He opens the emergency taps to contain the fire, but in a rare case, his surroundings change appearance and turn into a blue hell. In fact, this is the first time we have encountered a real and scary Silent Hill in Downpour. These transformations and environmental changes are one of the main features of the collection. In the next section, we will see a very simple puzzle that also uses a fixed camera angle; The player must open the door by turning a wall board. This is the moment we encounter "Void"; A force that draws everything around it. Murphy certainly does not have the strength to stand up, so there is no escape. In this part, a relatively simple and old technique is used to scare the audience, and that is nothing but lengthening the corridors. The last time I witnessed the use of this phenomenon, he was returning to the same Eid holiday and the horror movie "The Night" or that night with the brilliant play of Shahab Hosseini, which I must admit was much better than what I had in mind. In that movie, we also saw that the main character, in one of his illusions, gets caught in a seemingly endless cycle of hotel corridors. In the game, just when you think the staircase you are on is not complete, a door will appear that will take you to the normal state of the restaurant.

Sanchez

Murphy, after searching the restaurant environment, finally arrives at the house hosted by another escaped prisoner named "Sanchez". Also, if you open a safe, the game will give you a gun. When Sanchez is found, we see him beating a seemingly helpless woman. As a result, Murphy stops him by pulling Sanchez aside. A mistake that eventually causes the monster to opportunistically kill Sanchez. This is your first direct encounter with monsters in Silent Hill Downpour. The weapons and combat system in the Silent Hill series never made much sense; Because such cases are practically useless in this world. As older players are aware of this, Silent Hill will never allow a player to defeat enemies in an action-packed and heroic way, like "Resident Evil" and especially modern Resident Evil. As a result, environmental fears will always overwhelm you, and even the simplest dangers can bother you. You can find a police badge on a bed and between clothes. In addition, you will be able to change old clothes and receive a key. In one of the interesting parts, to get a ticket or a cable car ticket, you have to play an "arcade" game similar to the ones we have seen in amusement parks.

Murphy's cable car takes you to the Doyles Pitt area southeast of Silent Hill. The scene in the middle of the screen is not unlike the "Bright Falls" in "Ellen Wake". While Murphy is fascinated by the beauty of the environment, a new character named "John P. Peter" appears. She used to be a tour leader in the Doyles Pitt area and is now depressed.

John : She's beautiful, isn't she? It may seem strange to you, but it used to be crowded; Mothers, fathers and children. It was a very beautiful place. Murphy : I know, I do not want to interrupt, but there is something more important. A few minutes ago a monster tried to kill me! John : This is probably the first time you have come to this area!

John finally talks about a train that can take Murphy to the main city. Arriving at the mine, you will find a newspaper that gives you interesting and shocking information. An accident in this area killed eight children, and the culprit is the same person we saw a few minutes ago. John caused the accident due to excessive drinking while working. In this section you will see a new type of enemies that is much more powerful and faster. A monster that hits Murphy hard with high jumps and sudden surprises from above. Eventually you came to life again. Depressed, he plans to jump from a height. He insists that everything they have written about the incident and its guilt is a lie, and that the authors are liars. While John emphasizes that the killing of children was the result of a single incident, Murphy says that John is reportedly completely out of control, and the audience's evidence and reports confirm this.

John : How are you Murphy? Is there anyone who reveals small and dirty secrets? Murphy : I never harmed anyone who was innocent. I also never harm any child. John : This is not called life. Look at our talk, we talk as if someone here cares about what we say. In the end, it is we who decide how to live our actions.

Annie says that ruthless people like Murphy do not deserve to survive and walk the world to the point of killing him, but at the last second. He regrets and gives up his job.

In this part, the game allows you to help him or speed up his suicide, but your decision is ineffective in the next event. After finding a way to activate the "Railcar" and encounter a large number of monsters, you can finally get on this device. After mounting, a pre-recorded tape begins to utter sentences that at first seem like a history of the place, but eventually the sentence space changes and takes on a scary color. Only after a few seconds do you realize that this short journey is supposed to be like a tunnel of terror. The train derails and Murphy is anesthetized again. We wake up near an exit and meet the police officer again. The one who appears injured in the previous fall seems to be thinking only of arresting Murphy. Murphy tries to persuade him to work together to escape, but to no avail. During a search of Murphy's clothes, Ani immediately finds the police badge we found earlier and becomes very angry; In a way, we feel that he knows the owner of the brand completely. Annie says that ruthless people like Murphy do not deserve to live and walk in the world to the point of killing him, but at the last second he regrets and quits his job. When it rains, Murphy takes refuge in a building. The radio starts playing music from a DJ named "Bobby Ricks". The strange thing is that these songs are played exclusively for Murphy. Playing on a side mission requires you to deliver the stolen items to the right people. Other side effects, such as releasing birds from cages, are also seen in urban areas. In an attempt to find Ricks, we encounter the postman at the beginning of the game, or Howard Blackwood. Howard again tries to guide us on the way, pointing out that the radio station building is located in the Centennial Building. He also talks about the police officer and says that he saw him in a very upset situation. Arriving at the radio station, you can find Murphy's parole documents on one door. Then we see a flashback and memories of prison. As we saw at the beginning of the game, in this memory Murphy and Seville are negotiating to cooperate and kill one of the prisoners. Police Officer Frank Coleridge finds them having a secret conversation and calls Murphy to hand over some of his files to him. Frank tries to understand the content of their conversation, but Murphy refuses to answer. So Frank just warns him and asks Murphy to stay away from Seville.

"Frank : Don't go near Seville. He has never served anyone. I do not know what is going on in your mind, but I have worked very hard to help your release and I know that they will soon agree to your conditional release. Now that everything is in order, do not ruin the work! Murphy : Don't worry. I have everything under control. There is only one old thing left to be done.

The conversation between them continues. Frank inquires about Murphy's presence in such a place and says that he is by no means like other prisoners. The reason for Murphy's imprisonment, which we have already briefly mentioned, was the theft of a police car, the attempt to escape and the surrender. As you climb different floors of the building, Murphy will have another flashback. He seems to be talking to Seville in his office, and they are reviewing the murder plot together.

Seville : I think this is a win-win deal. People like Napier do not deserve to breathe and live in the world that you and I are. However, the courts and the legal channels only believe that we should punish them by keeping them away from the people. Can you accept such an argument? So what about Charlie's security? Did anyone think about that? "In return for my kindness, you must do something for me."

In this conversation, we conclude that Murphy deliberately trapped the police in order to seek revenge. After a very long search, you will finally find DJ Ricks. Arriving at his office, we see him playing music and talking to the audience.

He talks about a boat that could save them from Silent Hill. The only problem is that an attacker stole the boat keys from the studio. Murphy suggests that they turn on the boat without a key, but Ricks says that Silent Hill and its strange rules will not allow it. Before Ricks and Murphy leave the studio, there is an immediate uproar. This police officer, who is determined to arrest Murphy again, becomes a new obstacle. Murphy explains to him that they can find a way out. Annie asks Ricks to give her the phone line, but Ricks says she only uses the phone for incoming calls and there is no way to communicate with the outside world. As Ricks noted in an interview with Murphy, the monsters were informed of their presence and plot, and they had little opportunity. So in order to break the rules that Ricks had made, a number of monsters entered the room and stole Ricks and Annie. In the end, Murphy is left alone again. Now we see again that the building is changing and this time it is in the form of a transcendental prison. The Void phenomenon reappears to draw Murphy in, but you can escape by running. Escape from this dark energy becomes one of the most challenging parts of the game. One of the scariest things is facing a dilemma that will have the same result on each side. On both sides, the same creatures can be seen being captured and tortured. These creatures are called in the game of tortured ghosts.

Then you enter a mechanical clock puzzle and huge devices and hands are placed in front of you that move at high speed. So Murphy's careless movement can easily kill him. . . . . . . .
