The PT game (.P.T) recently celebrated its 8th anniversary; A short demo released on PlayStation 4 showed a glimpse of the future of the survival horror genre. However, Konami decided to take it out of reach and leave the game behind forever. At the time of its release, many players thought that the demo was just another horror game that was supposed to scare them for an hour. However, upon receiving it, they realized that this work was going to start a new trend in this genre.

Horror is at its best when we are forced to contemplate the unknown. Takes; Being in an environment that seems both real and alien and can get into our skin and bones forces us to think about the possible dangers that await us around the corner. P.T. does all this while trapping us in a heavy space that is constantly changing in response to our actions. Everything in the game is a huge, difficult and sick puzzle. Created by Hideo Kojima in collaboration with Guillermo del Toro, it was the introduction of a new version of Silent Hill. The work that most of its creators were members of the Silent team and with Norman Reedas in the main role, was supposed to take the players to the heart of the sinister city of Silent Hill once again. We've only seen a small part of what the game could be, and in the meantime a short trailer with sketches by a manga artist named Junji Ito has been released. At the time, anyone who saw the game saw its potential as astounding.

PT displays many of its subtle elements and clever tricks right from the start. When you leave the game's initial room, you're greeted by the distant hum of a radio. The voice on the radio recalls the news of a murder in the community; A murder that the game Avatar may have even been responsible for. Apart from the passionate radio announcer and the sound of the main character's hesitant footsteps, everything is silent and a heavy atmosphere prevails.

There are no instructions and no guidance, so the only thing that drives us forward is curiosity. The surfaces of the house are cluttered and the interior design is dated, but apart from that and a few locked doors, it looks like an ordinary house. Of course, this normalcy is true until we pass through the game door that awaits us at the end of the corridor. Suddenly we are back where it all started. We are forced to go through this door again and again as it becomes clear that there is no escape. We are trapped in it and forced to experience our sin forever.

Although there is no clear way in front of you, but the increasing terror of the environment, an incentive to experiment and find a way to It provides an escape before fear overwhelms you. After a while, the bathroom door starts slamming loudly, while the sound of the screams of the baby in the sink echoes throughout the abandoned house. These elements are extremely terrifying and we have no choice but to examine each hideous sight that appears with each new cycle. More clues eventually reveal themselves, so if you try to manipulate the radio or people's photo frames, the radio announcer will talk directly to you.

Then Lisa arrives; The ghost of a pregnant woman who was gunned down by her monster-possessed husband. He's bound to this house and walks its halls right next to you because you're both stuck in this hellish cycle. On the other hand, it seems that the closer we get to discovering the truth behind his fate, the more violent he becomes. In one cycle, a bloody refrigerator hangs from the front door, while Lisa watches from upstairs. It's a bit difficult to see him, but just knowing he's always with us gives us a new level of fear.

Lisa doesn't seem to have a clear, linear movement pattern and can appear or disappear depending on what you're doing at any given moment. The final loop before the Silent Hill teaser is strangely ambiguous. In this cycle you have to take a certain number of steps along the corridor and wait for some kind of voice cue and then say a certain word into the microphone before Lisa kills you and that's how you'll start the ending. However, this solution did not work for some people and they had to do different tricks. In fact, this is what made P.T. It sounds too complicated.

This demo was a puzzle that was cracked by horror fans, but we all knew there was something else waiting to be discovered. This game was so elaborately made that after completing it, it would show you the new version of Silent Hill as a reward. Yet even as a marketing tool for Silent Hill, PT is one of the most perfect examples of survival horror ever.

The game doesn't explain any of its events and its horror is only revealed because we We are very determined to move forward and discover where we are, what it means, and how we can survive. You'll find a flashlight throughout the game, but other than that, the controls aren't overly complex and the environment only has a few specific elements to interact with. However, there is something about the game's atmosphere that is hard, if not impossible, to match. A gruesome act takes place here, and fleeting radio messages and dusty photo frames help fill in the gaps of the story; A story that we really shouldn't know anything about, but it continues to move and the result is nothing but doom.

Kojima and Del Toro recently mentioned it with tweets on the occasion of PT's 8th anniversary, and it can be said without a doubt that They're still upset that Silent Hill was canceled before it reached its full potential. Just imagine how different the horror genre would be now if the game had gotten its way. However, the magic of PT will never be forgotten and we will still be talking about it years later.
